The Missouri State University Calendar of Events is intended to provide complete
information regarding Missouri State University events to the campus community and the general
public, and will serve as the single source for all university web
calendars. Information from the Calendar of Events will be used for all
department, college and campus office calendars, including News Services
annual, monthly and weekly calendars.
Benefits
By centralizing the process, all university units will
have access to identical information, streamlining information flow and
ensuring consistent use of content. Because of that, content accuracy should
also be improved. Readers will be able to search for event information or
browse events using a variety of categories. These categories include free
events, public affairs, creative arts, science and the
environment, teacher education, business and economic development, academic calendar, staff holiday, athletics,
and training
schedules.
Guidelines
All Calendar of Events events must be submitted
electronically in the designated format, following the appropriate
submission and approval processes. Calendar events must meet these
guidelines:
 | Only events associated with Missouri State University, its colleges,
departments and approved programs are eligible for inclusion. |
 | Calendar submissions should be event oriented rather
than news items. |
 | Reminders and other follow-up submissions are not
permitted. |
 | Events must affect more than just the members of an
individual department. For example, a departmental staff meeting is not
appropriate while Academic Council is appropriate. |
Weekly, Monthly and Annual calendars
Content for these calendars will be extracted from Master
Calendar submissions.
Weekly Calendar
Take Note is a weekly faculty/staff e-mail prepared by
University Communications each Friday and set out the first working day of
each week outlining events taking place that week. News items can be
submitted to Take Note by e-mail at
UnivComm@wp.missouristate.edu.
Monthly calendar
Campus Connection includes a monthly calendar prepared at
the end of each month by University Communications and distributed via
e-mail to the faculty and staff at the beginning of each month. News
items can be submitted to Campus Connection by e-mail at
UnivComm@wp.missouristate.edu.
Annual calendar
University/Community Programs produces an annual calendar
for use by campus administrators. During June of each year a letter is
sent to all campus administrators requesting information for the upcoming
academic year be submitted to the Master Calendar. During July, this
information is printed and given to the administrative council to distribute
as needed.
Calendar of Events submission and approval procedures
All calendar items must be submitted electronically using
the online submission form. Only Missouri State University employees, students, or others with
university computer accounts may
submit information. Content will then be reviewed and approved before being
posted to the Calendar of Events database. One administrative approver will
oversee student-related events, while a second administrative approver
oversees most other events before items are finally posted to the Calendar
of Events database.
