Training
The Missouri State University – West Plains Calendar of Events is intended to provide complete information regarding Missouri State University – West Plains' events to the campus community and the general public, and will serve as the single source for all university web calendars. Information from the Calendar of Events will be used for all department, college and campus office calendars, including University Communications annual, monthly and weekly calendars.
By centralizing the process, all university units will have access to identical information, streamlining information flow and ensuring consistent use of content. Because of that, content accuracy should also be improved. Readers will be able to search for event information or browse events using a variety of categories.
Event guidelines
As an approver, you should make sure each event you approve meets these requirements:
- Event must be associated with Missouri State University – West Plains, its schools, departments and approved programs
- Event should be date/time oriented rather than news items
- Event not be a reminder or other follow-up submissions
- Event must affect more than just the members of an individual department. For example, a departmental staff meeting is not appropriate while Faculty Senate is appropriate.
Approving an event
- Using your web browser, visit
http://calendar.wp.missouristate.edu/submit/.
The login screen appears.
- Log in with your Windows NT user ID and password
The Submissions screen appears.
- Click the headline of the event item you’d like to approve.
The Review Event screen appears.
- Use this checklist to review the event and ensure it’s correct—change any incorrect information as needed:
- Check the grammar and content of every text field for accuracy
- Ensure that each field’s content matches the example for that field, e.g., make sure the date/time isn’t listed in the description field or the admission cost isn’t listed in the speaker field.
- Ensure that the date, including the year, is correct. If the item says this event occurs on multiple days, click the review dates, times and locations link to make sure all of the dates are listed and correct.
- Make sure any referenced web addresses work
- Ensure the contact information, including the email address, is correct
Once you’ve verified the information for the event, click the Save and Post button to add the event to the calendar. If you only wish to save your changes, click the Save button. If the event is inappropriate and needs to be deleted, click the Delete button. Otherwise, click the Cancel button to return to the previous screen.
Deleting or modifying an event
Calendar approvers also have access to modify or delete events sponsored by their approved areas. To access a posted event, follow these steps:
- Using your web browser, visit
http://calendar.wp.missouristate.edu/submit/.
The login screen appears.
- Log in with your Windows NT user ID and password
The Submissions screen appears.
- Click the Postings link in the black bar along the top of the screen.
- Click the headline of the event item you’d like to modify or delete.
The Review Event screen appears.
Note: If the headline has an asterisk next to it, it means the item can only be edited or deleted by University Communications
- Make changes to the event. When finished, click the Save Item to save the change or click the Delete item to delete the event.
